Meet List

As many of you know, Oudtshoorn has been going through a difficult time recently, with several roads closed and many caves currently inaccessible. After discussions with local cavers in the area, it was decided to move the meet a few weeks earlier. Next month's trip will now take place this month as well. This will be a visitor-friendly cave meet, and all interested cavers and friends are welcome to join.

We had a great Constantiaberg cave meet this weekend, with a nice group of nine people joining us, including a few new faces. The day involved exploring several smaller caves as well as one larger system, making for a fantastic introduction to the sandstone cave systems of the Cape Peninsula.

Explored the formation-rich chambers of a certain Oom's cave out in Oudtshoorn, introducing new members to cave formations, system structure, and the processes that shape subterranean environments, all while experiencing the scale and adventure of the underground.

With a smaller group, we explored a series of smaller cave systems while documenting cave fauna. Peter Swart joined us to introduce new members to the diversity of life underground, showing us how much exists within these systems and guiding the search for both common and rare species.

Second CPSS meet of 2026. The original plan had to change due to high water levels, but the backup option definitely didn't disappoint. A solid day underground exploring another incredible cave system with the crew.
